Introduction to VEX IQ Cross Over

This lesson will go over the basics of VEX IQ Crossover

Details

There are 28 Hexballs, 14 Blue Hexballs and 14 Orange Hexballs, as scoring objects in the game. Hex balls are scored when placing the Hexballs in their respective parts of the field, and by placing them in the various goals you can obtain more points. Both scoring zones have the following 8 low goal slots, and 6 elevated goal slots. There are 2 scoring zones, one is Orange and the other is Blue. There is 1 Bridge and robot(s) obtain points by parking and/or balancing on the bridge.

All Robolink Students will participate in the following events:

  • Teamwork Challenge
    • Two robots; 1 per team, will be remote controlled for 60 Seconds
    • Both teams work together to obtain the same score
  • Driver Skills Challenge
    • One robot is remote controlled to obtain the highest score in 60 seconds
  • Autonomous Challenge
    • One Robot is programmed to autonomously obtain the highest score in 60 seconds
  • Design Challenge
    • Present your engineering notebook to the judges

Scoring Description

Now that we have watched the video, let’s take a few minutes to make sure we know what we should focus on doing. Below is a table describing how much points are given when you accomplish a certain goal/objective.

Activity

Ask for a sheet of paper, and answer the following questions, once you have completed this place this in your Engineering Notebook/Folder make sure you show your work:

-SAMPLE-
Question:  How many points would you have if you are in team work challenge and only one robot is parked on the bridge AND you knocked down two orange hexballs into the orange scoring zone?
Answer:
2 orange hexballs in scoring zone = 2pts
+
1 robot parked= 5pts
2 pts + 5 pts = 7pts

  1. How many points would you have if you placed all the Hexballs in their respective scoring zones and not in any goals?
  2. How many points would you have if all the low goals were filled?
-What if you parked 1 robot?
-What if you parked 2 robots?
  3. How many points would you have if all the high goals were filled?
-What if you parked 1 robot?
-What if you parked 2 robots?
  4. What is the longest amount of time an individual driver can drive the robot?
  5. What is the Maximum amount of points that you can score in the Team Work challenge?
  6. What is the Maximum amount of points that you can score in Skills?
  7. What is the Maximum amount of points that you can score in Autonomous?
